Meet the Survivors!

My name is Emily and I am a fourth year student majoring in Public Relations and working on my MA in Nonprofit Organizations. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was a senior in High School and was treated at the Aflac Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. I never in a million years expected that I might have to face the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis--especially not during my senior year of high school! Like with many things in our lives, the thing you thought would break you, ends up being a blessing in disguise. Because of my experience, I was led to pursue a career in nonprofits, specifically those benefiting pediatric cancer. When I came to UGA, I was immediately impressed with the support and dedication to Relay for Life. The money and emotional support participants contribute is very appreciated by survivors, those still battling and their family and friends.

Thanks Relay for Life for everything you do and everything you stand for!
